I would like to say: “this is not my cup of tea.” But I feel like that would be a lie because I marathon-listened to this story despite my discomfort and revulsion at times.
The narrator, Elizabeth Hart performs all the voices, and I am impressed that she could convey the 25 year old Mona and mature Malcolm and others, and maintain an erotic sound and pace. I then had a clear picture of what the participants were looking at and living through as the scenes went by in my head. I looked up all the paintings referred to. I’m sweating without having been for a run! I loved the art journey the story took me on. I admit I listened non-stop to this story, but I don’t know if my heart can take another erotic fantasy of this nature by Tiffany Reisz. The allure here, is the erotic mystique of it all. It’s not for everyone, and yet I can’t say more in case of spoilers. But be warned, it starts off titillating, then ramps up the heat and pain, and boundaries are completely smashed.
This story is quite sex focused and if that is your preference, you will love it.
My notions of sexual acceptability were pushed, stretched and exploded. I was riveted listening to this, and as the story progressed I became exceedingly uncomfortable and squirmed because of the physical and mind twisting sexual acts. This is for you if you love explicit, erotic fantasy that pushes boundaries.
